Last weekend we attended “Sizzlefest” in Keremeos to compete in a chilli and hot sauce contest. It was a blast regardless of the fact we didn’t get the results we hoped for. We have been told by many chefs and organizers of other events in keremeos, that the locals vote for locals. Making it tough to win. We definitely agree. A large number of voters were over 55, our full spiced, sweltering chilli was a bit much for their palates. Just about every person in attendance under the age of 55 told us that it was “no contest” and ours was the best by far. Vote results deemed otherwise. We finished 3rd. All in all, we had fun and will probly enter the event again.
Month: September 2014
Hockey season begins!
Shay and I took Stone to the first hockey game of the season on Monday. The “Young Stars” series was in town. The tournament features all the top prospects from the Canucks, Oilers, Flames and Jets. It is great hockey as all the kids are keen to earn a spot on the big team. We watched Calgary lay the boots to Vancouver in a lopsided game that was not reflected in the score board. Calgary won 4-1 but it could have easily been 6 or 7-1. As usual, Stone had a blast.
New gig, new vibe
I have recently started a new gig at Freedom bike shop and life is good. Talking bikes and bike culture all day suits me just fine. The boys at the shop are a riot to work with and I am stoked to see what the future holds for me.

Gotta get back on track
It has been a very busy past few weeks. We have been looking at numerous spaces to lease, food trucks and other opportunities. Good things are happening for us and we are quite excited about what the future holds for Shayna&Shulman. Currently you can find Shay making delicious specials and goodies at The Bench on Vancouver hill and Josh is spending is days at Freedom bike shop on main. Later this month we will be entering in the Keremeos “Sizzlefest”. It is a chilli cook off and hot sauce compitition. Wish us luck!
